People caught with sex workers will get criminal record

ILLOVO – Anyone caught in the presence of sex workers will now face arrest and a possible criminal record.

This follows the arrest of several sex workers in Illovo by Bramley police. Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police, warned clients to not solicit the services of these workers or they would risk getting in trouble with the law.

“If the police find you with them, you will not only face arrest but your fingerprints will also be taken… and this will result in a criminal record,” he said.

He added that some of the workers posed a danger because when clients picked them up, the women often robbed them of valuables in their car before being dropped off.

Maphakela urged residents to not support the sex workers and work together with the police to reduce their presence in the area.
