Sandton police nab 35 for various crimes

SANDTON – Scores of people were recently arrested by the Sandton police for various crimes committed within the precinct. The arrests were made for various offences, including rape, theft and shoplifting.

 

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Sandton police, explained that six people were arrested for theft incidents. “The police also arrested 13 people for shoplifting, two suspects for rape and two more for fraud,” he said.

In addition, 10 people were arrested for possession of dagga; one for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm; and another for malicious damage to property.

Maphakela confirmed that all the suspects were detained at the Sandton Police Station and charged with the various offences.

“The arrested suspects have since appeared in court to face their respective charges,” he added.
