Shavathon raises 15k for Cansa

BENMORE GARDENS – The latest Shavathon hosted by the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) in Sandton raised an impressive R15 000.

The event took place at Benmore Gardens Shopping Centre on 27 February and saw scores of children and adults getting their hair sprayed, shaved or simply making a donation in support of the association.

Janine Gossman, centre manager of Benmore Gardens, expressed gratitude at the generous amount raised, which will be used to provide a service to the public and those affected by cancer. “It was busier than last year with a really nice vibe created by the MC, and some people were very generous with their donations. Three people cut off their ponytails and in a gutsy move, one lady shaved her head,” Gossman added.

This year’s Shavathon, held annually since 2003, took place from 27 to 28 February across all shopping centres.
