Construction works for Rea Vaya in Sandton

SANDTON - The Johannesburg Development Agency continues with Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transport roadworks in Sandton.

 

Construction is underway in Wynberg, as well as along Katherine Street in Sandton, from Marlboro Drive to the Gautrain station.

The agency said they have been pleased with the public for their continued patience during the construction which continues to be on track.

Rea Vaya roadworks along Louis Botha Avenue in Parktown and in Wynberg are currently in progress.

From Clarendon Place to Houghton, work is in progress with the Clarendon Place retaining wall more than 60 percent complete and the foundations for the Rea Vaya lane construction complete. Work also continues from Houghton Drive to Dunottar Street with the completion of street light installation and sidewalks in Houghton.

From Dunottar Street to 11th Avenue in Orange Grove, with the exception of the area between Boundary Street and Main Street, the sidewalks are nearing completion on the southbound side. From Garden to Main streets in Orange Grove, the sidewalks are also nearing completion on the northbound side. The sidewalks from 3rd Avenue to 11th Avenue are fully complete.

Work from Athol Road to Arkwright Avenue in Wynberg continues to progress well with work on retaining walls and sidewalks. The relocation of an Egoli Gas pipeline from Corlett Drive to Athol Road in Rosebank is approximately 50 percent complete.The section of Louis Botha Avenue between Louis Road in Orange Grove and Wynberg is planned for completion in July this year.
