JRA waits for Joburg water before attending to damaged road surface

PARKMORE – The Johannesburg Roads Agency is unable to attend to a damaged road surface along 7th Street and Virginia Avenue in Parkmore until Joburg Water attends to a water leak.

This according to the roads agency’s spokesperson, Bertha Peters-Scheepers who said, “Once Joburg Water has finalised repairs, the roads agency will ensure the road is reinstated. We predominantly deal with storm water drainage when it comes to water issues.”

She added that the damage appeared to be sewer related and was definitely an issue for Joburg Water.

Kate Wardle, deputy chairperson of the Parkmore Community Association said, “This damaged road surface is at a serious risk of collapsing. This stretch has seen numerous breaks in the past six months. We need something to be done to fix it.”

David Sibiya, spokesperson for Joburg Water said the matter would be looked into.
