Residents invited to ask councillors burning questions

SANDTON - In a move to encourage more community participation, Sandton ward councillors are inviting residents within their wards to e-mail any questions or issues affecting them to the Sandton Chronicle.

This is as a way to maintain openness and transparency between elected ward councillors and their residents.

Mike Wood, councillor for Ward 104, explained that this will allow councillors to answer residents’ burning questions on issues within their areas and allow other residents to also read about the issues and councillor’s responses within the newspaper.

“Basically, what we’re trying to do is close the gap between residents and their councillors and build a relationship,” Wood said.

“This way, we can be more focused on issues reported and remain transparent on how they are resolved.”

Questions can be forwarded to all the councillors, via the Sandton Chronicle, covering the Sandton area and relating to issues and complaints within the various wards.
