Road construction for most of the year in Sandton

SANDTON – The construction underway on the roads in the Sandton CBD are set to continue for most of this year.

 

This according to Elaine Jack, city improvement district manager of Sandton Central Management District who urged residents, workers and residents in the area to be a bit more tolerant of the inconveniences that may arise.

Below are the timelines and construction programme for the road upgrade project in the Sandton CBD:

  •  From November last year to 4 March this year, the construction of pedestrian sidewalks will take place on West Street, southbound.
  •  From January to 22 April this year, new cycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks, as well as service detection and the relocation of services will be upgraded on Maude Street between Rivonia Road and Gwen Lane.
  •  From 29 February to June this year, new cycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks, as well as service detection and the relocation of services will be upgraded on Maude Street between Gwen Lane and West Street.
  •  From 22 April to 18 August this year, new cycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks, as well as service detection and the relocation of services will be upgraded, and there will be paving on Maude Street from West Street and Fifth Street.
  •  From 29 February to 27 October this year, there will be pavement strengthening on Rivonia Road.
  •  From 22 April to 30 November this year, there will be pavement strengthening along Fredman Drive.
  •  7 June to 30 November this year, there will be pavement strengthening along Fifth Street.
  •  7 August last year to 30 November this year, new pedestrian sidewalks, as well as service detection and the relocation of services will be upgraded on Alice Lane.
