Donate wool and help Forest Farm in their 100 Beanie Project

BRYANSTON - Forest Farm Centre has started a 100 Beanie Project at the residential facility in Bryanston.

The centre for adults with cerebral palsy has requested the community’s assistance in the donation of wool so their residents can start with the project way ahead of the winter season.

“The aim of the project is for the beneficiaries to create 100 beanies,” said Bulelwa Mahura, a social worker at the centre.

“These will then be donated to a needy community on Mandela Day. As such, we hereby appeal to the community to assist us with collecting thick wool that we can use to make the beanies.”

Mahura explained that, although the residents of the centre are considered a vulnerable group in society, the centre tries to instil a sense of pride and belonging in them. “One of the ways we do this is by encouraging them not to feel sorry for themselves but count their blessings and be able to share whatever they have with others,” she added.
