Barloworld Equipment launches special graduate programme

JOBURG - Barloworld Equipment held a special ceremony to celebrate the launch of their graduate development programme on 27 January.

The event was held at their offices in Sandton and saw key members of the company welcome 10 graduates who will take part in the programme over the next two years.

Spokesperson of the company, Nomsa Radebe said, “The graduate development programme is a 24-month work-integrated learning experience. It is structured to ensure graduates gain the broadest work exposure possible in Barloworld Equipment’s key operational areas and an in-depth knowledge of the workings of each business unit.

“This is to ensure that once they take up leadership positions within the company, they have a good overall understanding of the business and how all the units work together to deliver the quality and expertise Barloworld Equipment’s customers have come to expect.”

The programme will see the graduates rotate through different facets of the Barloworld Equipment operations and structure under the mentorship of an experienced engineer. Following the completion of the course, the graduates will stand a chance to be placed in various career paths within the company’s structure.

The event also celebrated Barloworld Equipment’s focus of inclusion and diversity as eight of the 10 graduates taking part in the programme are female, which executive director of human resource, Francis Graham, was delighted to announce.

Graham said, “We see a massive shortage of skills in the top leadership tier in the fields of engineering, mining and technical. What we’re aiming at is building the future leadership of our company and a specialist skills pipeline. We want to ensure we have a pipeline of female engineers and women in specialist technical roles within the organisation.”
