Get to know the rules and regulations of your secondhand business

MORNINGSIDE - Secondhand retailers and liquor providers are invited to a meeting at Sandton Police Station in Morningside on 17 February.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Sandton police, said the meeting will discuss the rules and regulations for secondhand retailers, as well as the importance of having a liquor licence.

“It is important that these businessmen and women comply with the rules and regulations, because if they do not, they will fall on the wrong side of the law,” he said.

“For example, with secondhand retailers, they need to take their customers’ and clients’ ID numbers and keep receipts of whatever they sell because people can claim that they are selling stolen goods and report them to the police.”

Maphakela said these are just some of the issues that will be discussed. He strongly advised all secondhand retailers and liquor providers in the area to attend the meeting.
