Get your garden in gear

JOBURG - The most eagerly-awaited event on the South African gardening calendar is imminent.

The Lifestyle Garden Design Show 2016, proudly presented by Lifestyle Home Garden, will open on 12 February.

For the 17th time, CHOC, The Childhood Cancer Foundation of South Africa, and Lifestyle Home Garden are partnering to raise funds from the sale of the avidly-collected portfolio, which shows all the layouts and plant lists of the gardens on show.

Funds raised from the sale of the portfolio are used to purchase medical supplies, provide transport and upgrade and maintain the CHOC home.

Gardening has a purpose again. A new generation of gardeners is blooming, one which values experience and tactility over cost and appearance.

Since 1997, Lifestyle College students have been imagining and creating great garden designs that are workable in small home environments.

There is so much on offer, so there’s no reason to miss out on some exciting new aspects of the show.

There are new manifestations in vegetable gardening, both in- and outdoors. Rainwater is becoming more and more important, and keeping it onsite, and making the best of what water you do have in your garden, is the emerging trend worldwide.

Mid-summer is the height of the growing season, a time when gardeners, old and new, take stock of what they have and what they’d like.

The show highlights all the latest trends, plants, gardening products and accessories, all the things necessary to create your own feel-good space.
