Nan Hua invites you

JOBURG - As the Chinese community gets ready for their New Year on 8 February, local residents are invited to the celebration of Chinese New Year taking place on 7 February at the Nan Hua Temple in Bronkhorstspruit.

 

Spokesperson for the temple and assistant at the Nan Hua meditation centre in Parkmore, Du Mann Ying said the event would host a plethora of cultural activities and entertainment, and will be the perfect opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture.

Ying said the festivities would celebrate the year of the monkey. “It’s a good year for everyone because the monkey is an energetic animal which does not represent violence. It is harmonious which represents this year.”

The day will begin at 9am and is free of charge. The event will start with dragon dancing and fireworks.

There will be more than 50 stalls at the celebration with food and various other activities for attendees to enjoy.

“Arts and crafts will be on display and multi-cultural performances such as Chinese martial arts, kung fu, Indian dances, and Chinese traditional costumes and fashion shows.”
