Children with cancer need your support

JOBURG – For many people, this year will just be another year among many in their lives, but for the children at the Childhood Cancer Foundation, better known as CHOC, this year is an opportunity to be grateful that they are still alive.

As a non-profit organisation, CHOC is very dependent on community support. Rightly so, as these brave little cancer-fighting warriors deserve all the support and love one could possibly muster.

The foundation is once again hosting their food drive through which they reach out to corporates, schools or anyone with a big heart to assist them by donating grocery and household cleaning items.

These donations will take care of the daily woes of the caretakers and allow them time to focus on what’s most important – taking care of the little ones so they can have a fighting chance at living long and prosperous lives.

CHOC’s needs, which the organisation will take donations for throughout the year, comprise mielie meal, long-life milk, tea, coffee, sugar, cornflakes, Weet-Bix, flour, baking powder, Bull Brand, pilchards, stew and soup mixes, smooth peanut butter, eggs, apricot jam, brown sugar, 2-minute noodles, tomato sauce, mayonnaise, baked beans, fresh vegetables, stewing beef, mince meat, boerewors and mixed chicken portions. Other items comprise automatic washing powder, dishwashing liquid, Handy Andy or similar, bleach, fabric softener, dishcloths, mops, brooms and steel wool.

All proceeds will benefit children who have been diagnosed with cancer and are undergoing treatment. Donations can be dropped off at the CHOC home, 16 Eastwold Way, Saxonwold, on any day of the week.

Make a donation and make a difference in the life of a child living with cancer.
