Luresha’s murderer granted leave to appeal charge of robbery with aggravated circumstances

PAULSHOF - The Randburg Magistrates' Court granted Anthony Strauss (39) leave to appeal his 15-year sentence for a charge of robbery with aggravated circumstances.

Strauss was found guilty of the murder of Luresha Govender (36) in 2014, after he admitted to strangling her in her Paulshof residence with an electric cord on 30 December 2014.

Strauss then stole Govender’s car which was later found by police in Windsor.

He is currently serving a life sentence for murder and a 15-year sentence for robbery with aggravated circumstances.

Nuren Govender, Luresha’s older brother said, “Strauss was agreed appeal on the robbery with aggravated circumstances, but not on the murder charge, nor the sentence.”
