Montrose Primary School welcomes new faces

SANDTON - The passages and classrooms of Montrose Primary School were filled with excitement as the school welcomed an elated group of Grade 1 pupils on 13 January.

With lunches packed and school books labelled, the new pupils were led to their classrooms by their parents before beginning their very first school day.

Principal of the school, Sylvia Buschberger, said the first day is always filled with excitement among the parents, teachers and pupils who are looking forward to the new school year.

The school hosted an orientation day on 12 January to introduce the young pupils to their new school grounds, classrooms and other pupils. Spokesperson of the school, Jono Leaf Wright, said orientation day acted as an opportunity to relieve some of the anxieties that come with the first day of school and gave the pupils the chance to get comfortable with their new environment.

The day was celebrated with laughs and cheer as the pupils hung up their blazers, sat at their desks and began the school day.

Buschberger concluded, “It’s a very happy vibe this morning and I hope it marks the beginning of a great year.”
