Local artists highlighted in exhibition

JOBURG – Braamfontein resident and local artist Rudi Trap is starting the year on a fantastic note by taking part in an exhibition at Morceau De Mantel, an interior decorating store in the Design Quarter in Fourways.

The exhibition is simply the interior store’s way of showing off a number of gorgeous pieces created by local artists.

Artworks by Elsa Cornelissen, Adrian Boshoff Senior, Adrian Boshoff Junior, Jacques Miller, Sussanna Swart, Gert Potgieter, Anton DK, Nthando Nqwenya and Trap will all be on display and on sale throughout the month of January.

Trap’s new works, entitled Winterreise, include a number of delicate yet striking pen and watercolour pieces that highlight landscapes, cityscapes and buildings. “Most of the works in these series were inspired by my travels –Holland, Golden Gate, and Braamfontein, I moved there recently and I’m really beginning to love it,” he explained.

When speaking about his fellow artists, Trap mentioned that he loved the variety of works that were on show. “Each artist has brought something fresh and technically proficient to the exhibition. In these difficult times, it’s great to see how artists are able to participate and come together and to give voice to their passion. Each message is unique.”

Trap added that the exhibition had also been quite successful for him. “I have already sold quite a few works, including several of the Braamfontein series. They are proving to be popular.”

The exhibition, which runs until the end of January, can be found at the Morceau De Mantel in the Design Quarter in Fourways. The exhibition is only open during business hours, which are 9am to 6pm on weekdays, 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and 9am to 4pm on Sundays.
