A countdown of a different kind

DOUGLASDALE - While everyone was celebrating and counting down the new year, Douglasdale residents Tanya and Alan Muir were doing a countdown of a different kind.

The first-time parents were counting down the arrival of their baby boy, Liam Charles Muir, who was born at 12.02am on 1 January at Mediclinic Morningside.

“I was in transitional labour for 20 minutes and fireworks went off moments before my baby’s arrival. In fact, the countdown in the delivery room was for me and my husband, it was 10 seconds of pushing, a quick breath to wish everyone around me a Happy New Year and another push. Such excitement!” the new mother said.

Liam was born at 3kg and 50cm. “We wonder what kind of a career he will choose as his statistics of coming into this world were nearly spot on,” she concluded.
