Expression through photography

SANDTON – The Photo Club pupils from Lycée Jules Verne French School in Sandton are expressing themselves through photography.

Jeanne Stanley, communications officer of the school, said for the past two years, the photographers from the Photo Club have tried to express – through their works – their relationship with the world around them, while examining the social and historical issues of present-day South Africa.

“When you view the world with a critical eye, you also get a different perspective of yourself,” said Stanley.

An exhibition entitled, In Perspectives shows young photographers visions of the multifaceted nature of South African society.

“Their photos taken in different places show different realities,” added Stanley. “They photographed Johannesburg’s many faces, both familiar and less well-known. This project was very enriching for the students as they met many different people. They appreciated the differences among people and demonstrated respect for all.”
