Truck breaks barrier and lands on Gautrain tracks

JOBURG - Gautrain services between the Hatfield and Pretoria stations have been disrupted following a truck accident on the Gautrain track earlier today.

According to the Pretoria Rekord, the truck crashed through the barriers alongside the highway in the Muckleneuk area and went through the railway lines, it ended up colliding into the Gautrain’s cement wall.

The truck driver is now in critical condition after being trapped in his vehicle for more than 30 minutes.

None of the actual trains were involved in the accident but the damage to the overhead lines means that services between Hatfield and Pretoria will be disrupted all weekend. The Gautrain bus service will instead transport commuters between Hatfield and Pretoria.
