Celebrating FNB business excellence awards for 2015

JOBURG – FNB and the Italian-South African Chamber of Trade and Industries recognised and awarded businesses that have contributed to the economic growth of the country through their commercial achievements over the year.

Enel Green Power and Dina Soukop were each recognised as Business Enterprise and Business Person of the Year winners respectively at the 16th edition of the FNB Business Excellence Awards in Illovo.

The event was attended by an esteemed list of dignitaries, among whom were the Ambassador of Italy to South Africa Vincenzo Schioppa Narrante, the Italian Consul General in Johannesburg Marco Petacco, and David Makhura, the Premier of Gauteng.

Chief executive officer of FNB Business, Mike Vacy-Lyle said “We need more events of this nature in order to celebrate entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs are the heroes creating jobs and growing the South African economy. Every year we recognise businessmen and women that have gone the extra mile to succeed in a challenging operating environment.”

He went on to congratulate all the winners.

The event was also used as a way to give back to the less fortunate. Little Eden, a home for people with mental challenges benefited through the sale of raffle tickets at the event.

Thanks to the sale of raffle tickets, FNB and the Chamber were able to donate R100 000 to Little Eden.

Antonio Cimato, chairman of the Chamber, thanked everyone for attending and expressed his gratitude to the staff of the chamber as well as outlining his hopes for the chamber to grow in strength and numbers.
