Woman’s body found in veld in Sandhurst

SANDHURST - A female body was found at the corner of Komati and Empire Roads in Sandhurst on the morning of 23 November.

The woman was in her late 20’s or early 30’s and was found in a grassy area alongside Empire Road.

Police said the body had likely been dumped in the grass.

Emergency services and police are on scene and the victim’s family members are arriving on scene.

The woman was found at 5.45am.

Police said she was stabbed in the abdomen.

At this stage it is unclear if she was robbed.

Police think the woman may have worked in the Hurlingham area because people in the area noticed her walking up and down Komatie Road daily.

Police are now taking fingerprints off the body.

The body was allegedly found with four penetrating wounds, three in her chest and one in her back.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Sandton Police, said that there was no identification on the woman and she did not have a mobile phone on her.

More updates to follow.
