Suspect charged with repeatedly raping a minor

MARLBORO – A man was recently arrested by Bramley police on a charge of repeatedly raping a minor in Marlboro.

The suspect was arrested following the girl’s confession of the alleged crime to her mother.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Bramley Police Station, explained that the victim’s mother was about to leave for a funeral in Limpopo when the victim begged her to stay. “The victim tearfully begged her mother not to go, confessing that when her mother was not around, the suspect, who resides nearby, allegedly sexually abused her,” he said.

She further confessed that in one instance, the suspect came into her room, covered her younger sibling with a blanket before allegedly raping her.

Maphakela claimed that it was the third time the suspect had raped the victim, and when her mother confronted him about the incident, he allegedly admitted to it.

“The suspect was detained at Bramley Police Station where he was charged with rape, and has since appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court, where bail was denied,” Maphakela confirmed.

The suspect remains in custody and will appear again on 2 December.
