Truck rolls down embankment on William Nicol Drive

BRYANSTON - A truck rolled down an embankment on the corner of William Nicol Drive and Dover Road on the afternoon of 10 November. 

 

Sandton Chronicle journalist Andrei van Wyk was on the scene.

An eyewitness at the scene claimed the truck was driving on Dover Road and drove through the intersection with William Nicol Drive while the traffic light was red. The truck collided with a vehicle that was driving along William Nicol Drive, crashed into a traffic light and rolled down the embankment.

Emergency services Netcare 911, Emer-G-Med and City of Joburg Emergency Services were on the scene. Five people were injured, including a child believed to be six years old who incurred a fractured femur. There were no critical injuries but the patients were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

The truck was carrying metal rods.

The traffic lights at the intersection are not working and traffic is backed up along William Nicol Drive in the area.
