Sandton police pounce on three for carjacking in Wendywood

WENDYWOOD – Three suspects recently met their downfall when Sandton police arrested them for their alleged involvement in a carjacking incident in Sandton.

The incident took place in Wendywood when, according to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela on behalf of the Sandton police, the victim was approached by three men.

“Two of the three suspects were allegedly armed and proceeded to force the victim to open the front passenger door,” he said.

The suspects then allegedly pointed a firearm at the complainant before forcing him out of the car and driving off in it.

Maphakela added that the complainant managed to stop another motorist and ask for help, and on their way to Sandton Police Station, the two came across police officers and reported the incident.

“The officers then drove towards the scene of the crime and returned later, reporting that the vehicle had been recovered in Kramerville and two suspects arrested,” he said.

Maphakela confirmed that a third suspect was later caught by another police officer and the three were detained at Sandton Police Station where they were charged with carjacking. The case continues.
