Teachers contribute to chess programme’s success

MONTECASINO - Tsogo Sun Moves for Life chess programme hosted its teachers tournament and award ceremony at Montecasino.

The chess programme has been introduced at more than 110 schools and has reached more than 1 000 teachers and 50 000 pupils nationwide.

The event at Montecasino was to honour Diepsloot teachers’ hard work and dedication for their contribution to the success of the chess programme in their schools.

Montecasino’s Estelle Damster said, “This chess programme has been going on for three years and the teachers’ dedication has been amazing.

“We would like to get more schools to participate in this programme because it is very beneficial for pupils to participate in. It teaches basic mathematics in a fun way without pupils knowing.”

At the tournament, teachers of Muzomuhle, Paradise Bend, Reshomile and Musenga Vhadzimu primary schools played against each other with team spirit and enthusiasm.

After the winners of the day were awarded, the teachers were presented with MiniChess level one certificates.
