Sandton City placed on high alert

SANDTON - Nelson Mandela Square and the Sandton City shopping complex have been placed on a heightened security alert on the afternoon of 23 October.

Nomzamo Radebe, CEO of JHI Retail for Sandton City and Nelson Mandela Square said, in line with policy, the shopping centre from time to time execute on their disaster recovery and crisis management plans.

As a result, they have placed the Nelson Mandela Square and Sandton City complex on a heightened security alert.

As part of the heightened security alert, additional security, emergency services and police are on site.

The centre has notified all tenants to report any suspicious activity or unidentified parcels to centre management.

“This is a precautionary measure as the safety and security of shoppers and tenants is of utmost importance to the Centre Management,” Radebe said.
