Checkmate for teachers

SANDTON - Teachers from all over Johannesburg are invited to learn and enjoy the wonders of chess through an in-depth workshop on 24 October.

Learning... The chess teacher's training workshop will give teachers the opportunity to learn special techniques to pass on to their pupils.

The Chess Teachers Training Workshop will be held at Crawford Preparatory School in Benmore and will be run by chess organisation, Goforchess.

Spokesperson for the organisation, Clyde Wolpe, said the workshop will include two practical sessions which will allow chess teachers to have a positive influence on pupils wishing to play chess.

He added, “We want to train some of these teachers to the level of beginners chess coaches. It’s a skill that can be really useful in the future.”
