R26k for mall parking spot

HYDE PARK - VIP Parking at Hyde Park Corner will help raise funds for Rays of Hope.

Would you pay a whopping R26 000 for a reserved parking bay at your favourite shopping centre?

In the spirit of giving back, Johannesburg resident and business woman Kimberly Dally, has purchased two parking bays at Hyde Park Corner for R13 000 each as part of Estée Lauder Companies’ annual breast cancer awareness auction. The bays had been donated to Estée Lauder by Hyde Park Corner for the cosmetic company’s charity initiative. Dally then opted to donate back one of the bays to be re-auctioned later this year by the company.

The shopping centre has also launched its very own VIP premium parking bays in the name of charity. They will be supporting non-profit organisation Rays of Hope by offering five VIP parking spots for a donation of R100 or more at the entrance. Five beneficiaries from one of the organisation’s projects in Alexandra have been employed as footmen to provide customers parking security and service while shoppers are in the centre, in exchange for the donation.

This will go towards the organisation’s nine projects that impact more than 1 000 people in Alexandra. The organisation focuses on supporting orphans and vulnerable children in Alexandra.

“We really value this opportunity to partner with Hyde Park Corner for their corporate social investment initiative, and trust that the public and loyal customers of the Hyde Park shopping centre will support this initiative,” said Julie Peters, CEO of Rays of Hope.

She added that with the public’s support it would give them the means to continue to make a deep and lasting impact in Alex, where they have been operating since 1991.
