Fibrehoods brings high-speed internet to residents

SANDTON - A recent joint venture is now bringing high-speed internet of 100 megabits per second to suburbs in Sandton.

Fibrehoods, comprising RMBH Holdings and Waterfall Investment Company, draws on leaders within the field of fibre to the home (FTTH). The joint venture has meant they have been able to deploy quickly and more cost-effectively with their aerial network.

The aerial network utilises existing infrastructure and, where necessary, new poles, to string the fibre. The advantages of aerial fibre are that it is easier to maintain, quicker to deploy and, most importantly, there is no trenching with is less disruptive to residents.

Fibrehoods is currently deploying FTTH in Atholl, Inanda and Illovo with connectivity to be complete by the end of the year.

Dave Fisher, project manager of Fibrehoods, said they are currently feeding the fibre network to Bryanston Ext 3 and other areas in Johannesburg North, and will begin the rollout process to homes within the next few months.

Fibrehoods recently announced that they plan to add other suburbs to their network. “Fibrehoods, together with resident associations, is excited to begin communicating with residents to sign up and indicate their interest in the initiative,” said Alon Hendel, managing director of Fibrehoods.
