Redhill hosts music festival

MORNINGSIDE - Redhill School celebrated the joy of music when they hosted a special International Music Festival.

Music Enlightenment Project which provides extra-curricular music education in Braamfontein, Northside School from Botswana and the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls were invited to the festival.

The musicians played alongside the Redhill Orchestra.

Marketing officer of Redhill School, Nirvana Rogers said, “We just want to showcase the talents of each group and merge them by having them interact with each other.”

Rogers added that the festival was an opportunity for these musicians to further their musical talent through positive networking between pupils from different schools and backgrounds.

Head of music at Redhill School, Julie Griffiths, said the festival was an extension of their involvement with the Music Enlightenment Project by giving the children a place to perform. Griffiths added that the children performed extremely challenging pieces of music which showcased their talents. The last performance of the day saw all the musicians performing one music piece together.
