Cable theft suspects caught in the act in Bryanston

BRYANSTON – Two suspects out of five were arrested by Sandton police after they were caught digging for electricity cables in Bryanston.

Spokesperson for Sandton police, Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said there was a total of five suspects who were spotted by security guards in the area. “The suspects were [allegedly] digging on the side of Main Road,” explained Maphakela.

He said after the suspects saw the security guards, they ran off. “The security guards managed to chase and catch two of the five suspects,” he added.

Maphakela said the police were called and the suspects were detained at Sandton Police Station. They are expected to appear in court soon.

The other three suspects are still at large.
