BRACe hosts August monthly meeting

BUCCLEUCH – The Buccleuch Residents Action Community (BRACe) announced in their August meeting that their monthly formal meetings would change from monthly to quarterly.

Maria Gerondoudis, on behalf of the organisation, explained that the reason was due to the availability of a variety of electronic platforms which allow for frequent updates and report-backs.

“It would [therefore] be more productive to have less frequent full member meetings and more frequent smaller, focused meetings on specific tasks or projects,” she explained.

Another issue discussed in the August meeting was the Modderfontein development, which will see phases of development take place over the next 30 years, and the impact it will have on Buccleuch in the future.

Also touched upon was the Waterfall Fields development, which will take place in the area north of Buccleuch over the next five years.

“BRACe is registered as an interested and affected party for this development and has asked residents to comment on the plans so they could be submitted,” she said.

The meeting also discussed security issues, feedback on the Nelson Mandela Day project, finances, service delivery and an announcement on the next Honour Our Precious Elders gathering.

“All elders over the age of 55 and younger residents are invited to the bi-monthly gatherings, with the latter urged to bring their elders and friends,” she concluded.

The next meeting will take place on 10 November at 6.30pm with the venue still to be confirmed.
