Savika guards go beyond the call of duty

SUNNINGHILL – Three Savika Armed Response employees recently went beyond the call of duty and helped a distraught woman find her cellphone after she accidentally left it in a taxi.

According to Linda Gildenhuys, chairperson of Sunninghill Community Security, a woman approached one of the Savika security guards and informed her that she had left her cellphone and belongings in a taxi.

Hlamalani Ngobeni explained that she immediately informed the control room and Savika CCTV controllers.

“The lady was extremely upset and in tears, I had to do something to help,” Ngobeni said.

Upon hearing the complaint, the controllers checked their CCTV footage and tracked the taxi and the registration number. The team from Savika then went a step further and tracked the taxi association.

Amazingly, the taxi association got in contact with the taxi driver who had found her belongings and was interested in returning them to the rightful owner.

The woman later came back to the control centre in tears of happiness with a thank you card for the Savika CCTV controllers. Gildenhuys said, “It just goes to prove that there are those who care and will go the extra mile.”

Gildenhuys added that this incident really motivated the controllers, who have been on a constant high since the incident.
