Montecasino invites residents to official Bok send-off

MONTECASINO - Tsogo Sun is inviting residents to show their support for the country's national rugby team at the official Springbok send-off on 11 September at Montecasino.

As part of Tsogo Sun’s Springbok supporter campaign, the hotel group has raised a giant 13m x 6.5m flag made up of 109 ribbons, each of which is 20m in length and contains messages of support from Springbok fans. The ribbons were sewn together to form the flag which can be seen outside Montecasino on the corner of Witkoppen Road and William Nicol Drive.

According to Tsogo Sun group sales director, Neil Fraser, Tsogo Sun’s Fly the Flag campaign is a loud and clear message to the Springbok team that the nation is wholeheartedly behind them throughout the Rugby World Cup.

He said that for several weeks, the ribbon boxes were positioned at selected Tsogo Sun properties for supporters to write their own messages, and the response from Springbok supporters throughout South Africa was overwhelming. “We were delighted to give so many people the chance to share their personal messages of support and encouragement,” Fraser said.

Residents are urged to show their support of the Boks in person at the official Springbok send-off ceremony that will commence at 3pm on Montecasino’s Outdoor Piazza.

The ceremony will feature interviews with the Springboks in a live SuperSport broadcast with live music from 2pm. There will also be an opportunity for supporters to be chosen for a photo session with the team before they leave for the airport at 5pm.

General manager of Montecasino, Glenn Joseph, expressed how delighted they were that the precinct has been given the opportunity to fly the flag and host the big send-off party for the Springboks.

“We’re extremely proud to show the Springboks what their passionate and powerful efforts on the field mean to millions of South Africans. We wish them the best of luck as they set off to achieve big things in England.”
