Help six-year-old cancer survivor

SANDTON – A fundraiser initiative was held at the Hard Rock Café in Sandton for a six-year-old cancer survivor.

The fundraising committee organised some of the best bartenders and mixologists to converge at the Hard Rock Café for a show which included some music acts.

Reef Donald James Carneson was diagnosed with high-risk infant acute lymphoblastic leukaemia at the age of five months and at the age of eleven months he received a bone marrow transplant. Over the years, his condition has fluctuated wildly.

His grandmother, Charmeon Carneson, said her grandson has been such a fighter and continues to beat the odds against him. “It is amazing what the fundraising committee has done for him, they are so invested in this cause,” added Charmeon.

Keegan Smith, a member of the fundraising committee explained, “We have already had a bid on the first cocktail made on the night to the amount of R18 000 and it will go towards Reef’s treatment. He just has not had a break, and we can help.”

All proceeds that were raised at the event have gone towards Reef’s ongoing battle with cancer.
