Police on the hunt for two rape suspects

SANDTON - The Sandton police are appealing to the public to help them find two suspects accused of rape.

The incident took place on 26 August in Sandton when the victim was on her way to the taxi rank and was approached by a man.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Sandton police, explained that the suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and instructed her to get into a white Toyota Fortuner.

“Once she got into the car, one of the suspects tied her hands with rope while the other drove the car,” he said.

After driving a distance, the suspects stopped at an undisclosed location, pulled the victim out of the car and instructed her to remove her clothes, which she did. The suspects then took turns raping her and, following the ordeal, instructed her to dress again before dropping her off at a house in Boksburg.

“Security members were alerted to the situation by the owner of the house and they, in turn, contacted the Boksburg police who took the victim to the Sandton Police Station,” he said.

Maphakela confirmed that the suspects made off with the victim’s handbag. No arrests have been made.

He appealed to community members to contact the police should they have any information regarding the incident or the two suspects. The case continues.
