Samwu signs salary agreement with Salga

JOBURG - The South African Municipal Workers’ Union (Samwu) recently signed a wage and salary agreement with the South African Local Government Association (Salga).

 

Salga represents the country’s 278 municipalities. Samwu spokesperson Papikie Mohale said the signing comes after a rigorous mandate took place which resulted in the Samwu central executive committee confirming that the majority of its members had acted on the facilitator’s report without any additions or subtractions.

Mohale said, “Municipal workers should receive their salary increases as of this month back-dated from July. We would like to thank our members for their patience during the negotiation process and the trust they had bestowed upon our negotiation team.”
