CPF mourns two residents at monthly meeting

BUCCLEUCH - The Sandton Community Police Forum Sector 4 sub-forum meeting was off to a sombre start this month.

The monthly meeting was held in Buccleuch and began with a reflection on the recent passing of two friends of the sector, Elke Whitcutt and Jaco Swanepoel. Both Whitcutt and Swanepoel passed away from natural causes.

Chairperson Andrew McMurray also mentioned a change to the personnel on the sub-forum’s managing committee. “Werner Smit announced his ineligibility to stand as vice-chair and therefore Selwyn Fisher [has been elected] the new vice-chair,” he said.

McMurray took a moment to congratulate the newly-elected Sandton CPF chairperson, Anthony Modena, who took over the position from Wendy Vorster-Robertson. He also thanked the outgoing chairperson for her commitment to the forum.

Other issues discussed at the meeting included the Sector 4 commander’s report, with Captain Richard Semenya urging residents to help fight crime in the area.

“[The] community needs to support the CPF, keep their eyes and ears open and report suspicious activities,” he urged.

McMurray concluded the meeting by once again urging residents to support the forum and making a request for funds.

“The CPF is always in need of donations/funds – never more so than now. Please make a regular donation.”

The next meeting is scheduled to take place on 27 August at The Christ Church in Wendywood at 6.30pm.
