Cops arrest two suspects with stolen DVD

WOODMEAD – Sandton police conducting a stop-and-search operation last week busted two suspects in possession of a suspected stolen item.

The successful arrest was made in Woodmead when, according to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Sandton police, the two suspects were stopped during the operation by the Sandton police on 11 August.

“The police stopped the suspects as they were walking in the area and searched them, finding a DVD player in the process,” he said.

The police then proceeded to ask the suspects where they got the player from, which they failed to explain, and this led police to suspect it was stolen. Maphakela confirmed that the two were arrested and charged with the possession of suspected stolen goods.

The two suspects made an initial appearance at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court last week and again on 18 August for a bail hearing. The case continues.
