Tara Hospital lends a helping hand at Nkosi’s Haven

HURLINGHAM – Staff at Tara Hospital in Hurlingham visited Nkosi’s Haven to establish a relationship and to lend a helping hand.

Nkosi’s Haven is a non-governmental South African organisation that has been in operation since 1999. It offers holistic care and support for destitute HIV/Aids infected mothers, their children, and resulting Aids orphans.

The Tara Hospital team was led by admin manager Rajen Doorasamy and they donated groceries, rendered cleaning services and also assisted to decorate the entertainment room for a party for the residents.

Communication officer at Tara Hospital, Sibusiso Chauke, said the founder and director of haven, Gail Johnson, was pleased by the visit.

“We really appreciated the effort by the team to make a difference in other people’s lives,” said Johnson.

Nkosi’s Haven is named after Nkosi Johnson, a young Aids activist who passed away on International Children’s Day on 1 June 2001. He wanted a facility that would care for infected mothers and their children and he also wanted HIV-positive people to be cared for without discrimination or prejudice.
