KFC celebrate Mandela Day

BRYANSTON - As part of their contribution to the upcoming Mandela Day celebrations and their ongoing Add Hope campaign, KFC South Africa hosted a special food packing event at their offices in Bryanston.

In their own special way of giving back, the staff and various volunteers from the fast food chain’s Facebook fan list were given 67 minutes to fill as many boxes of food as they could. With fast hands and the spirit of giving, all in attendance were able to fill an astounding 500 boxes of food. Sponsored by the fast food chain, the boxes contained sugar, tea, cereal and a variety of other products.

Corporate social investment trust manager at KFC South Africa, Lindy April said about 150 people packed the food parcels for families in need.

She added that their Add Hope campaign focused on nutrition and feeding children all over South Africa every day.

April said, “I think Mandela Day is about giving back, even though Add Hope is about giving back every day of the year, it is a day where the country can come together and do good.”

David Brown, managing director of Joint Aid Management South Africa which is one of KFC’s primary beneficiaries, commended all the efforts from the fast food chain’s staff on the day.
