Donate wool or needles to the Knitwits Knitathon in Sandton

SANDTON - Community members are encouraged to donate wool or needles towards the Knitwits Knitathon group at Rosebank Union Church in Sandton.

The group meets every Saturday morning at the church’s staff room from 10am to 1pm to knit scarves, blankets and other items of clothing for the needy.

“Firstly, we would be extremely grateful for the donations as this would keep us knitting, but secondly, we would be able to contribute to the cold and needy South Africans as our knitting goes to many charities,” explained Greta Collier, the organiser of the initiative.

Some of the charities that will receive the knitted items are Rays of Hope, 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day, Warm the World and many others.

The donations can be brought to the Rosehaven Retirement Village in Hurlingham and dropped off at the village’s front office, addressed to Collier.
