Domestic Watch talks child protection

PARKHURST - According to Penny Steyn from Domestic Watch and Saps Customer Service Training, the topic for June's crime prevention meetings will be about child trafficking, missing children and child protection.

“This is a very comprehensive lesson that doesn’t only apply to children up to age 18, but can also affect young adults of all nationalities who reside in our rainbow nation,” she said.

“As a community, we should be terribly worried about children becoming victims of crime. It is very important for the community to become knowledgeable about these topics as the mid-year school holidays are looming.”

The guest speaker will be Teddy Bear’s Clinic project manager, Elizabeth Steenkamp. She will add insight into all aspects of the Guidelines and Procedures Dealing with Child Abuse, followed by Steyn who will speak on child trafficking.

“Domestic Watch is not a course that begins and ends, but it is an ongoing process of lessons teaching the public on crime prevention, keeping abreast of current trends in criminal activity and methods of self, and household protection against criminals,” Steyn stated.
