Come help clean Rietfontein Nature Reserve

PAULSHOF – THE Friends of Rietfontein organisation invites residents and corporates to come and help them clean up the Rietfontein Nature Reserve on 19 June.

The reserve, situated at 138 Holkam Road is also home to the well-known FreeMe Rehabilitation Centre which uses the grounds to take care of the many animals brought to them.

“Council, together with the assistance of Pikitup, have arranged a clean-up day to support Rietfontein Nature Reserve and FreeMe Rehabilitation Centre in clearing and removing old items like wood, cages, litter and lantana cuttings from the reserve,” said organisation chairperson, Kerry Mawson.

The clean-up will start at 9am and those wanting to attend can stay the whole day if they like, or even just an hour or two if they prefer.

“Please ensure you dress in old jeans, takkies and gloves, and don’t forget to bring water. We look forward to seeing you there,” Mawson concluded.
