Founders’ Day comes to St Stithians

SANDTON - THE St Stithians Founders' Day recently returned with a bang and featured celebrated storyteller and poet, Gcina Mhlope.

The annual event saw a variety of activities included in the line-up, with addresses from the rector, Dr Tim Nuttall, and Mhlophe.

The rector thanked the founders for their role in establishing the school and highlighted the incredible growth since its inception.

“As a college, we have a symphony of stories to tell [and] as we tell and listen, we get better at doing so. We will deepen our sense of belonging, of community and of collective purpose,” he said.

He also spoke of the launch as a new Statement of Intent and Purpose aimed at inspiring excellence and making a world of difference.

Included in the day’s festivities was a performance by a 120-member symphony orchestra comprising five schools. The schools included girls’ and boys’ colleges and girls’ and boys’ junior preparatory schools.

Other activities on the day included an art exhibition and musical entertainment.
