The story behind the face – a Sandton security guard
SANDTON - FRANS Magapane is the proud protector of Sandton's people.
He is a security guard employed in the private security industry and has a passion for keeping South Africans safe.
In the early hours of the morning, he leaves his home in Alexandra township making his way to work in Sandton on foot.
“It takes me about an hour-and-a-half,” said Magapane.

He shared his views on the difference between the Sandton and Alexandra communities and painted a picture of Alex residents who are willing to go the extra mile and “wake up early to go to work”.
He said his community was tight-knit, even though some experienced the harshest aspects of winter in their shacks.
He added that the people of Alex were always willing to give a helping hand to their neighbours.
Many of his fellow residents owned small spaza shops which provide uniquely-African products and cuisine to the community.
Magapane is your security guard, committed to protecting you and your family. This, he said, is the proudest aspect of his work and it puts a smile on his face.
