Celebrate World VW Beetle Day

FOURWAYS – A firm South African favourite for decades, the classic VW Beetle, will celebrate its 80th year in existence around the world this year.

World Beetle Day has been celebrated every year for two decades running, and this year local Volkswagen enthusiasts can look forward to enjoying a day filled with Beetles, Kombis, Karmann Ghias, as well as modified and refurbished models such as notch backs, beach buggies, eagles, race cars, and, not to forget the Beetle’s smart cousin, Porsche.

The event will be held at Idle Winds on the R511 north (William Nicol Drive) on the way to Hartbeespoort Dam on 20 June, and promises to be fun for young and old alike. There will be special displays, stalls, live music, a beer garden, a competition and much more. Lots of memorabilia will also be for sale on the day.

Gates will open to the public at 9.30am and the entrance fees are R10 per classic show car (regardless of the number of occupants) and R20 per visitor. Children U12 have free entrance.

Idle Winds is situated at Plot 68 Doornraandjes on the R511.
