Traffic light in Bryanston makes no sense

BRYANSTON - A TRAFFIC light in Bryanston takes forever to change and poses a risk for motorists travelling at night.

This according to concerned motorist Carol Myers. The traffic light is situated on Grosvenor Road between Bryanston Drive and Cumberland Avenue.

Myers said the traffic light was for vehicles coming in and out of the Sasol office block. “This traffic light takes forever to change and this continues on a 24/7 basis, week in, week out, day and night,” she added

Myers said the traffic light had operated like this for the past 10 months. “I travel along Grosvenor Road twice a day every day, and very often it is after dark,” she added.

She said she would prefer that the traffic light be switched off after regular office hours. “Why does it have to be operating when there isn’t a damn soul anywhere?” she asked.

Bertha Peters-Scheepers, spokesperson for the Johannesburg Roads Agency said she had referred the query to the Traffic Engineering Department. “They will investigate the after-hour and weekend timing of traffic signals along Grosvenor Road,” she said.

“We trust this will ease mobility in the area.”
