10 injured after taxi and car collide

GRAYSTON - At least ten people were injured after a taxi and light motor vehicle collided on the Grayston Road Bridge in Sandton on the evening of 18 May.

Russel Meiring in the Crisis Communications department of ER24 said ER24 paramedics found the heavily damaged taxi and light motor vehicle in the middle of the road.

He said, “When ER24 paramedics assessed the scene, they found fire services busy using the jaws-of-life equipment to free the trapped taxi driver. Another service had already transported an unknown amount of patients prior to the arrival of ER24 paramedics.”

A further five patients, including the trapped taxi driver, had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.

“Once freed from the vehicle, paramedics treated the remaining patients on scene for their injuries and thereafter tranaported them to various hospitals for further treatment,” said Meiring.

He said the driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries and local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
