Following reports on 7 May that a judge found ADT liable for not ensuring the alarm system was completely operational at the time the couple’s home was burgled, the company has vowed to stop servicing and installing security equipment not initially supplied or recommended by the company.

Theunis Kotze, ADT general manager for the inland region said, “We would like to reiterate that the well-being of our customers is our primary concern and we sincerely regret the unfortunate attack on Mr and Mrs Van As.” Kotze added that ADT was reviewing the judge’s decision and that the company would respect the court process and reserve the right to comment until final decisions have been made.
